Peruvian blueberry exports to Saudi Arabia up 308%

Peru's blueberry exports to Saudi Arabia saw exponential growth during the 2024/25 campaign, strengthening the country's position as a key supplier of fresh fruit to the Arab market.
Between weeks 18 and 13 of the agricultural calendar, shipments reached 1,286 metric tons—a 308% increase compared to the 315 tons exported during the previous season.
This sharp rise positions Saudi Arabia as the ninth most important destination for Peruvian blueberries, reflecting not only growing acceptance of the fruit but also the success of an export strategy focused on quality, consistency, and market diversification.
La Libertad accounted for 70% of total shipments to Saudi Arabia, reaffirming its leadership in the sector. It was followed by Lambayeque with 28% and Piura with 2%. According to Fluctuante, these three regions continue to play a key role in the berry export chain.
Saudi Arabia's rising demand for blueberries is driven by the country's interest in diversifying its food sources, coupled with a high-income domestic market and a preference for fresh, high-quality produce.
Peruvian blueberries have gained recognition in the Gulf for their flavor, consistency, and traceability—qualities highly valued by local consumers.
Three Peruvian companies led the commercial expansion into Saudi Arabia. Blueberries Perú S.A.C. topped the list with 852 tons, representing 66% of the total volume exported.
They were followed by Agrovision Perú S.A.C. with 156 tons (12%) and Hass Perú S.A. with 153 tons (12%). These companies have played a crucial role in establishing Peruvian blueberries as a preferred fruit in one of the most demanding markets in West Asia.
